PLAYING WITH THE RENAISSANCE

This activity is for students of 5th and 6th grade who are learning different periods of History of Art.
We focus or attention in the Renaissance.

1º) We are going to ask questions about this period and, after the questions, showing pictures of the most famous buildings and paintings and ask if they recognise them:
- What is the Renaissance?
- Do you know famous painters of this period?
- What are the most famous buildings of this period?
- Can you tell me famous painting of the Renaissance?

2º) Immerse in the Renaissance through a simple video:

They have to note down key words, artists, ideas, characteristics… of this period to complete the “Cloud of Renaissance”, a cloud made of cardboard in which they stick post-its with the main and key ideas of each period of History of Art.

3º) Now, we are going to deal with Leonardo Da Vinci and one of the most famous paintings: La Gioconda. First of all, we are going to analyse carefully the painting through questions:
- How would you describe the young woman in the painting?
- Describe the background of the painting.
- Why do you think this painting is described as “mysterious”?

4º) Finally, we are going to play with the Renaissance, we are going to play with La Gioconda. Each student is going to have a template (https://artprojectsforkids.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Deluxe-Mona-Lisa-Template-4.pdf ) with the face and hands of the painting and they are going to play or reinterpret the painting using their creativity. The next day, they are going to explain what technique they used and why did they do their reinterpretations.

Penny Lane

Activity shared by M.Consuelo Manchado. My project is a mural compound by different collages that students would do in teams. Those works represent all the scenes depicted in the song "Penny Lane", by The Beatles. A label with the extract of the lyrics would be displayed as well. This project should be devoloped both in the English and Art lessons, as there are some grammar structures to be taught and research to be done (apart from activities related to the lyrics itself). I think this song provides a good opportunity to learn some things about other cutures (in this case, the Brithish culture). It would be interesting to compare and contrast different features in our towns and theirs. For example, means of transport (the double-decker bus), red post boxes, police officers' helmet and uniform, how the queu at the bus stop... So many differences! Apart from that, in the project students will learn about the band itself, their members. It would be a good start

The Carnival of the animals

THE CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS • In this activity the kids will listen four (or more) pieces of this beautiful musical work by Camille Saint-Saëns and make their pictures with them. You will need: - This link:  - A3 paper divided in four parts with a big cross and number them 1-4. - Pencils, crayons, markers… Instructions: - Put the photos of the animals you have choosen on the board. - Explain them, that we are in the jungle and we have to guess which animal is sounding in each moment and draw it the listening order in the paper. - Put the music of the four parts you have choosen and they have to make the pictures. When they have finished, they should explain their classmates what animal is in each square. For example: “I think that number one is…” As well you can ask them: “Do you think number one is a…? Yes, I do/No, I don’t”. Depending on the grade you use this activity. CAROLINA RUIZ FAVA
