Creating instruments

 

Previous session
Children are noticed to bring the essential materials to the classroom; will be provided by the teacher.
They watch a presentation on Genially about the instrument they must build.

Starting the presentation there is a video that shows the instrument itself, how it is played or a brief description of the materials or even the history of the instrument, depending on the level.

We can elicit any doubt about the instrument and the materials from the students.

Session 1 – Manufacturing.
We arrange the class in teams of four pupils and start reading out the steps. After answering any doubt about the process so far, let’s review we have all the materials.
The teacher must prompt children to explain the troubles they may find and try to work them out.

Session 2 – Pupils’ presentation
Every pupil introduce to their classmates the instrument orally according to the questions template at the end of Genially presentation.

The Carnival of the animals

  THE CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS • In this activity the kids will listen four (or more) pieces of this beautiful musical work by Camille Saint-Saëns and make their pictures with them. You will need: - This link:  - A3 paper divided in four parts with a big cross and number them 1-4. - Pencils, crayons, markers… Instructions: - Put the photos of the animals you have choosen on the board. - Explain them, that we are in the jungle and we have to guess which animal is sounding in each moment and draw it the listening order in the paper. - Put the music of the four parts you have choosen and they have to make the pictures. When they have finished, they should explain their classmates what animal is in each square. For example: “I think that number one is…” As well you can ask them: “Do you think number one is a…? PLAYING WITH THE RENAISSANCE

  This activity is for students of 5th and 6th grade who are learning different periods of History of Art. We focus or attention in the Renaissance. 1º) We are going to ask questions about this period and, after the questions, showing pictures of the most famous buildings and paintings and ask if they recognise them: - What is the Renaissance? - Do you know famous painters of this period? - What are the most famous buildings of this period? - Can you tell me famous painting of the Renaissance? 2º) Immerse in the Renaissance through a simple video: They have to note down key words, artists, ideas, characteristics… of this period to complete the “Cloud of Renaissance”, a cloud made of cardboard in which they stick post-its with the main and key ideas of each period of History of Art. 3º) Now, we are going to deal with Leonardo Da Vinci and one of the most famous paintings: La Gioconda.
